1. CoinDesk
CoinDesk is a NYC-based crypto news site founded in May 2013 by Shakil Khan. It since grew to become one of the most read websites focused on digital currencies and blockchain technology.
2. Crypto Briefing
CryptoBriefing is a crypto company I personally worked with in the 2010s. It’s a smaller outlet than CoinDesk and therefore does its best to cover topics slipping through the cracks. It also has a deep archive of coin guides to help you understand what to invest in.
3. The Block
The Block is another research and analysis firm hoping to demystify crypto investing. Its stated three pillars are news, research, and data, and the company hopes to help executives, technologists, and investors understand crypto and blockchain.
4. Decrypt
Decrypt was initially created as part of ConsenSys Mesh (a major Ethereum developer), and it spun off from its parent company in May 2022. It hopes this will squash any talk of bias, but, like nearly every other media outlet on this list, it still has major investments from crypto companies. The only truly indie outlet is up next.
5. Web3 Is Going Great
Web3 Is Going Great was created by Molly White to point out the pyramid schemes, grifts, and other failures of crypto and blockchain. She’s obviously biased against the industry, which is necessary in an industry that spreads constant FOMO.
6. Blockworks
Blockworks is a Brooklyn-based crypto news outlet aimed straight at investors. It holds a variety of events and has podcasts, newsletters, and more explaining the industry from a financial standpoint.
7. Benzinga
Benzinga isn’t strictly a crypto publication. It was founded by Jason Raznick, who also serves as CEO, to compete with Bloomberg as a reliable source of investment news. You can learn about crypto, stocks, bonds, ETFs, and more.
8. Bitcoin Magazine
Bitcoin Magazine is for Bitcoin purists, and they’re not interested in any other altcoins (which staff will happily refer to as shitcoins). They run some great meetups and social audio rooms related to the industry. If you only believe in Bitcoin, this is the site for you.
9. BeInCrypto
BeInCrypto is focused on the business of crypto and blockchain. They carved a niche promoting crypto-related jobs, and although they provide market news, they also focus on the culture, innovations, and more.
10. CryptoSlate
CryptoSlate has a strong archive of data and research, along with a steady stream of news. If you’re looking for deeper information about lesser known crypto projects, this could be the place to provide it.
